When you have a blog or website and you earn money from ads on your site, Adsense CTR is very important. It can be a little confusing if you are just starting out or not sure how it works, and right now you may be asking yourself “what is Adsense CTR?” If you are trying to earn money from advertisements on your blog or website through google adsense then understanding CTR is extremely important.

What is Adsense CTR?

CTR = Click Through Rate 

Your click through rate is the the number of ad clicks divided by the number of impressions, page views, or queries your site received. So, this simply means it is the number of times an ad is clicked on your blog divided by the amount of times the ad was viewed {impressions}.

What is Adsense CTR ?

For example, if 1000 people visited your blog or site, and 8 of them clicked on an ad, your page CTR would be .8%. (8/1000=.8%)

So, the more ads that are clicked on your site, the better. The higher your CTR percentage is the better. A higher CTR is desirable for advertisers because it makes them more money and gives you more value to them.

It also makes you more money because you are earning a percentage of the money the advertiser makes from sales through ad clicks on your site.

Even though you may be seeking a higher CTR or wondering what is a good CTR to have, it is hard to pinpoint. Every blog is different and it can be pointless to compare because there are a lot of factors that exude a high click through rate. Some of these factors include ad placement, site design, content, blog niche, keywords and links within your posts.

It seems like most websites range from .05% upwards of 10%, but that can depend on the time you put into increase your ad revenue and optimizing your website.

Adsense revenue equation:

RPM = (Estimated earning / Number of pages views) * 1000

You divide your estimate earnings  by the number of pageviews you received. For example, if you earned an estimated $200 from 65,000 ad impressions your ad RPM would equal $3.00 {(200/65,000) x 1000}.

Figuring out your RPM can help you determine an estimate amount per thousand people who visit your blog. This does not mean you will receive this amount from your ads. It is just an estimate.

Your RPM can increase and decrease frequently. Normally, increasing your clickthrough rate can increase your RPM, but it also depends on how much advertisers are paying for ads as well.
